Profim has made chairs in Turek, central Poland, since 1991, pairing international designers with local craft to create seating that is well made, easy to live with and within reach of every budget.

Profim was founded in 1991 by Ryszard Rychlik, Andrzej Opłatek and Bogdan Kaczmarek, at a time when Poland was moving to a free-market economy. The three founders saw a chance to bring high-quality furniture to that new market, and they built the company in Turek, a town in the very centre of the country. Through energy and entrepreneurial drive, Profim grew into a substantial manufacturer known for precision and quality, and a meaningful employer for its community.

In 1998 Profim exhibited at the Orgatec fair for the first time, with the aim of entering the German market. Working with international designers became part of its identity, and a practical approach to design produced affordable chairs with international appeal. Over the next two decades the company expanded its reach abroad and grew its production in Turek, relying on the specialist knowledge of its employees and a network of local suppliers. Profim describes itself as locally grounded but globally connected.

In 2018 Profim became part of Flokk, the Oslo-based furniture group whose production for brands such as Offecct and Giroflex is now also centred in Turek. Flokk brought a strong sustainability framework, and the Turek site was transformed into a lean, modern production hub for the whole group. Profim's own philosophy has stayed refreshingly clear: create furniture that is unique yet universal, durable, user friendly, stylistically approachable and affordable. As the brand puts it, timeless design does not need to shout. Its designs often start from familiar, well-loved typologies, balancing soft curves with crisp edges, and they are finished with a careful eye for snug, tailored upholstery.

That attention shows in the details: a perfect seam, a cleverly hidden mechanism, a thoughtful combination of materials. Profim collaborates with designers including Pearson Lloyd, Note Design Studio, ITO Design and Christophe Pillet, and its Revo modular system by Pearson Lloyd rethinks upholstered furniture for a circular future. In 2025 the Snap lounge chair by Note Design Studio received a Green Good Design Sustainability Award for its recycled materials and glue-free, staple-free upholstery. With a collection spanning task chairs, meeting and auditorium seating, lounge chairs, sofas and tables, Profim offers a warm, approachable way to furnish a whole workplace without compromising on quality.

(02) How it’s made

Made in Turek, Poland

Profim furniture is produced in the Flokk factory in Turek, central Poland, which is the most important production plant in the Scandinavian group. After a fire in 2019, Flokk rebuilt the site around lean principles into a 27,000 square metre hub producing 100 product families. Its technology park includes an ETON automated sewing system, an ASTOR assembly line, a cast polyurethane foam unit, three warehouses and an in-house laboratory where chairs undergo strength, stability and safety testing to EU standards.

Profim runs an ISO 14001 based environmental management system and has been ISO 9001 certified since 2000. It was the first Polish office seating maker to hold Möbelfakta certification for selected families, holds FSC certification (FSC-C101930) and designs for disassembly and recycling.

In their words

“Revo represents a radical rethinking of the way upholstered contract furniture is made in response to the climate crisis.”

— Luke Pearson, co-founder, Pearson Lloyd (designer of Profim Revo)

(03) Design

Designed with the world

Profim describes its design as a collaboration with designers, drawing on their experience, finesse and industry knowledge alongside an understanding of what clients need. The goal is friendly furniture: good for health, easy to use and affordable. Designs often reinterpret familiar typologies, balance soft curves with distinct edges, and pay close attention to tailored upholstery, while construction is kept simple and rational.

International collaborators include Pearson Lloyd, whose Revo modular system replaces plywood bases with recycled expanded polypropylene, Note Design Studio (Snap), ITO Design (Pace and TrilloPro), Tias Eckhoff (Ana) and Acer Design (u-Connect). Every new product follows Flokk's sustainable design principles: lightness, fewer components, rational material choices, a longer lifespan and easy disassembly.
