Frame and cushion

Mentsen built the chair on a contrast: an architectural frame in solid ash or powder-coated steel, carrying upholstery that looks poured into it.

Two frames

The W version is solid ash with ash armrests. The M version is powder-coated steel. Both take the same upholstery.

Made in the Manzano chair district

Zilio A&C works from San Giovanni al Natisone in Friuli, in the chair district around Manzano where Italy has built seating since the nineteenth century. The company has been there since 1951 and is now run by the third generation, with solid timber machined, assembled and finished in its own workshops.

Zilio A&C is a family business founded in 1951, working with Note Design Studio, Alessandro Stabile, Mentsen and others on furniture in solid wood. The pieces are made to order, so finish and upholstery are specified per project.
