Geneva by design ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

We only collect personal information that we need in order to respond to you and to supply furniture and related services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

  • Contact and business details — your name, company or organisation, role, email address, phone number, and delivery or site address.
  • Enquiry and project details — the products you ask about, quantities, finishes, budgets, timeframes, floor plans or specifications you send us, and our correspondence with you.
  • Transaction records — quotations, purchase orders, invoices and delivery records.
  • Website information — pages viewed, the site you arrived from, your approximate location, browser and device type, and similar technical data collected through cookies and analytics tools.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health or biometric information), and we do not collect payment card details through this website.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you submit an enquiry or quote request, email or call us, visit our showroom, attend a meeting or site inspection, or subscribe to updates. We also collect technical information automatically when you browse this website.

Occasionally we collect information from third parties — for example, from your colleagues, your architect or designer, a builder or project manager acting on your behalf, or from publicly available business sources. If we collect information about you from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.

You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym where it is lawful and practicable, though we generally cannot prepare a quotation or arrange a delivery without contact details.

Why we use it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare quotations and specifications;
  • supply, deliver and install products, and provide after-sales support and warranty service;
  • manage our relationship with you, including accounts, invoicing and record keeping;
  • improve our website, products and service;
  • send you information about products and services that may interest you, where you have asked for it or would reasonably expect it; and
  • meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to keep the site working properly, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. We use analytics services that report on aggregate site usage. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We disclose it only where it is necessary, including to:

  • Manufacturers and suppliers — so that products can be made to your specification and delivered to your site.
  • Freight, delivery and installation contractors — so that goods reach you.
  • Service providers — including our website platform, email and document hosting, accounting and analytics providers, who handle information on our behalf and are required to protect it.
  • Professional advisers and insurers, where reasonably required.
  • Government agencies, regulators or courts, where we are required or authorised by law.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our suppliers and service providers are located outside Australia. Our website platform and email and document hosting providers store data in countries including the United States, and a number of the manufacturers we represent are located in Europe (including Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, Italy and the Czech Republic) and Asia (including Japan and China). Where we disclose personal information overseas we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure — including access controls, secure hosting and staff practices. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law (for example, tax and business records). When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Email nicholas@genevabydesign.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing.

Direct marketing

If we send you marketing communications, every message will include a way to opt out. You can also ask us at any time to stop sending them by emailing nicholas@genevabydesign.com.au, and we will action the request promptly.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at nicholas@genevabydesign.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed.
