Pedrali began in 1963, when Mario Pedrali started out as a craftsman making metal chairs, tables and complements at Palazzolo sull'Oglio in the province of Brescia. His first products were metal seats for outdoor spaces, and his knowledge of the trade ran deep enough that he designed the machines that made them. The company took its first contract project in 1974, and in 1987 his children Monica and Giuseppe Pedrali joined the business. Stylepark describes them as the second generation running the family firm, with Monica as sales director and Giuseppe coordinating product development alongside the designers and the R&D team.

The shape of the modern company was set over the following three decades. Plastics manufacturing began in the 1990s. From 2000 Pedrali started working with international designers, the collaborations that now define the collections. In 2005 it opened a wood division at Manzano in Udine, in Friuli's chair district, a deliberate bet on Italian know-how at a moment when most of the industry was moving production offshore. The Mornico al Serio headquarters in the province of Bergamo followed in 2006, a new Manzano plant in 2015, and the first lighting collection in 2009. The company has shown at Milan's Salone del Mobile every year since 1988, in stands designed by Migliore and Servetto from 2012 to 2016, Calvi Brambilla from 2017 to 2022 and DWA Design Studio since 2023.

Recognition arrived in 2011, when the frida chair by Odo Fioravanti won the twenty second Compasso d'Oro ADI, the oldest and most influential industrial design award in the world, cited for its simple sculptural beauty. In 2017 Mario Pedrali himself was given the special Olivettian Entrepreneur prize by the Olivetti Historical Archive Association, which recognised in him the values of its own founder. The sixtieth anniversary in 2023 was marked by the Pedrali Pavilion at Mornico al Serio, a timber building designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi, and by the exhibition Pedrali60, we design a better future, curated by Luca Molinari Studio. The pavilion became a permanent landmark in 2026.

Pedrali today employs 360 people and turned over about 115 million euro in 2025, with roughly 85 per cent of production exported. Everything is still made in its own two Italian factories: Mornico al Serio for metal, plastic and upholstered pieces, Manzano for wood. For an Australian specifier that vertical integration is the point. It is what lets Pedrali publish a technical data sheet for every single model, with dimensioned drawings, a material by material breakdown, recycled content and end of life recyclability, and the EN 1728 and EN 16139 test results that contract projects here are asked to evidence.
