One idea, carried through

Alessandro Stabile drew the stool around the split: it gives the piece its profile, its grip and its name, and nothing else is added.

Stacking without wear

An internal construction system stops the stools slipping and rubbing the finish when they are stacked, which is what usually kills a stacking stool.

Made in the Manzano chair district

Zilio A&C works from San Giovanni al Natisone in Friuli, in the chair district around Manzano where Italy has built seating since the nineteenth century. The company has been there since 1951 and is now run by the third generation, with solid timber machined, assembled and finished in its own workshops.
