Since 1990, Offecct has made furniture and acoustics for the places where people meet, working with leading designers and refusing to add to the world's excess without good reason.
Offecct was founded in 1990 in Tibro, Sweden, by Kurt Tingdal and Anders Englund. Their starting point was simple and rather radical for a furniture company: the world is already full of products, so Offecct would only add to it when a piece could bring genuine value to people, architecture and society. The founders set out to create the meeting places of the future, where beauty and innovation sit alongside function, and to make furniture that helps people meet, think and create together.
Although its roots are Swedish, Offecct has always looked outward. It built its collection with architects and designers from around the world, among them Claesson Koivisto Rune, Jasper Morrison, Front, Luca Nichetto, Pauline Deltour, Lucy Kurrein, Jin Kuramoto and Teruhiro Yanagihara. Eero Koivisto worked with the brand for many years as external art director as well as designer. The company describes its outlook as an international take on Scandinavian design, balancing the radical and the functional, and its furniture is now found in workplaces, hotels, restaurants, airports and public spaces in more than 50 countries.
Sound has been part of the story for more than two decades. When Offecct began producing its Soundwave acoustic panels in 2002, it saw itself as a pioneer, and the range has since grown into a family of sculptural wall panels by leading designers, treated as much as art on the wall as acoustic tools. Experimentation has its own home too. Offecct Lab is the brand's forum for testing new materials and ideas with its partners, and it has produced pieces such as Jin by Jin Kuramoto, shaped from thin layers of flax fibre, and Soundsticks by Andrea Ruggiero, made from leftover material.
Sustainability runs through the whole business under a philosophy Offecct calls Lifecircle: taking responsibility for every part of a product before, during and after it leaves the company's hands, with bespoke upholstery, repair and reuse built in. In 2017 Offecct joined the group now known as Flokk, alongside HÅG, RH and Giroflex. Its most recent landmark, the Circulus modular sofa by Mario Ferrarini, was designed for circularity from the ground up and won the Red Dot: Best of the Best award in 2025.

(02) How it’s made
Tibro craft, circular thinking
Offecct was built on the furniture-making craft of Tibro, where its founders set up the company in 1990 and ran production in their own premises for three decades. Its craftspeople put the final touches on every product in the factory, working closely with the in-house product developers and visiting designers. In 2020 Flokk announced that Offecct's upholstered furniture production would move to the group's soft seating factory in Turek, Poland, by the end of 2021.
Material choices follow Flokk's circular design principles: low weight, few components, the right materials, a long life and design for disassembly. Circulus shows the approach at work, with moulded aluminium parts of 98% recycled content, steel parts with 20% recycled content, and upholstery that clips on without glue or staples so it can be replaced on site.
In their words
“Radical and honest, immediately recognisable with its strong and unique identity, yet honest with clearly visible elements in layers.”
— Mario Ferrarini, designer of Circulus

(03) Design
Designers from around the world
Offecct does not rely on a single house designer. It works with a roster of architects and designers from Sweden and abroad, including Claesson Koivisto Rune, Matti Klenell, Mattias Stenberg, Lucy Kurrein, Pauline Deltour, Jin Kuramoto, Teruhiro Yanagihara, and Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri. Co-founder Anders Englund led design for nearly three decades before moving to Flokk's Design Council in 2019.
Designers work side by side with Offecct's product developers and craftspeople, and the brand publishes books on its designers' thinking under the idea of design with a story. Italian designer Mario Ferrarini's Circulus sums up the approach: a sofa built in visible layers from few components, made to be updated and repaired for decades.
